Harrowing Bowl Winner – Most Pleasing Garden - Mrs. M. Flight Harrowing Cup Winner – Best Home Garden – Mr, and Mrs. R. Frost Domestic Entry Silver Rose Bowl Entry

Firstly – thanks must go to our many volunteer helpers and members who made the day such a success.

We had 368 Adult entries and 108 Children entries. The weather co-operated and many people attended the show, making for a very sociable afternoon. Pimms was served on the terrace for those watching the Potato -in- a -bucket competition. The quality of the show was high and the competition keen. Detailed results are included on this website.

Some of the highlights are:

  • Maggie Newington won the “Best in Show” (Colonel’s Trophy) with her Vase of Mixed Foliage.
  • David Kincaid won the Chris Grenshaw Bowl for the “Most Points in the Show”.
  • The Anna Clayton Trophy for the “Best Art” children’s entry was won by Jacob (flower picture) from Elham Primary School. This class attracted a remarkable 101 entries, which made a very colourful display in the Peggy Pike room.
  • The judging for the Garden competitions happens prior to the Show day, with the winners being awarded their trophies at the show: The Harrowing Bowl (Garden with best combination of Design, Colour and Content) was won by Pam and Mark Flight. The Harrowing Cup (Home Garden with best combination of Flowers, Fruit or Vegetables for Home Use) was won by Pam and Roger Frost.

Pam Tebbs, our new Show Secretary, is to be congratulated for organising our show – quite a challenge!

All that’s left is to engrave the 29 trophies awarded, deliver them to the winners, and start preparing for the next show.
